Police are engaged in a manhunt after a drive-by shooting left a window on a quiet residential street riddled with bullet holes.

Armed police were called to Oakfield Road in Balsall Heath yesterday (15 August) at around 7.20pm.

A handgun was recovered from the scene, which officers say was fired by the occupant of a dark-coloured saloon car, which fled from the scene.

It is the second shooting to be reported on Oakfield Road in a matter of weeks, after unconfirmed reports of shots being fired at another property in the street on August 5.

Those who live on Oakfield Road say they no longer feel safe. One resident, who did not want to be named, said:

I heard the shots last night. People do not go walking outside because it’s scary. Someone needs to stop this.

West Midlands Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the car involved to come forward with information.

Witnesses say that the car sped away from the scene down Salisbury Road towards Edgbaston Cricket Ground. Forensic teams are now at the property and all officers have been alerted to be on the lookout for the car.
