The Queen's Commonwealth Baton arrived in Leamington today as part of the relay for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

It paid a visit to the National Bowls Championships at Victoria Park as it was also announced that the bowls at the 2022 event will be held in Leamington if Birmingham is successful in its bid to host the Games.

Tony Allcock MBE, the Chief Executive of Bowls England said it would be brilliant for the region, and for the game:

"It will be huge and I think it's also great we are spreading out but still within the required distance of the commonwealth games village but also the games will inevitably help Leamington Spa and the infrastructure and the community, let alone Bowls England."
