A digger driver has had a lucky escape after walking away with just minor injuries when his vehicle plunged 50ft into a rubbish tip.
The man was trapped for several hours after the fall at London Road tip in Coventry at around 10:30 this morning.
Police, fire, ambulance and search and rescue crews all attended the site and worked for several hours to free the man who remained trapped in the digger after the fall.
The venue, which is operated by Coventry and Solihull Waste Disposal Company, remained open.
It took several hours to free the man who was taken to hospital by ambulance about three hours after his fall.
He suffered only minor neck and shoulder injuries.
The Health and Safety Executive, the national independent watchdog for work-related health, safety and illness, has been asked to launch an investigation following the incident.
