Police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are to ask for more money to extend their search, it has been reported.
More than £11 million has been spent on the probe to find Madeleine, who vanished from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal in May 2007, aged three.
Funding for the investigation is currently in place until the end of September, although reports today suggest the Metropolitan Police will ask the Government for more "to pursue a final line of inquiry".
A Scotland Yard spokesman said:
Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann from Leicestershire, have vowed never to end the search for their daughter.
