'There are too many buses' says city council leader

Residents in parts of Derby are suffering because of the amount of bus services in the area, according to the city council leader.

Currently there are up to 20 services an hour in the Alvaston and Boulton area, including Arriva.

Arriva says it's responding to customer demand. But the local councillor and leader of Derby City Council, Ranjit Banwait, says the number of buses is unsustainable.

He claims that too many bus services is putting the nature and character of some areas at risk and is calling on the Government traffic commissioner to act.
