A man has been jailed for life after fatally stabbing a man in Leicester city centre.

Thirty-year-old Dilovan Mohammed, was found injured in London Road on Wednesday 8 March.

He was taken to hospital where he later died.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Dilovan had died from a stab wound to his arm, which had subsequently punctured his lung and trachea.

Thirty-year-old Rajesh Khunti, who had been involved in a fight with Dilovan on Arnhem Street, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Khunti was sentenced to life in prison and will serve a minimum term of five years before being considered for release.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Smalley from East Midlands Special Operations Unit major crime team, said:

Khunti chose to carry a knife and he chose to use it that fateful day. There is no excuse for carrying a weapon. This case is another example of how a life can be lost, so quickly and suddenly.
