A mother has voiced her frustration after her daughter was placed in isolation on the first day of school for wearing suede shoes.

38-year-old Hayley Fisher of Nottingham, said 12-year-old Khyra-Jaye was taken out of class and placed in isolation on Monday (September 12).

Park Vale Academy considered the suede shoes acceptable at the end of the last term but not since the summer holidays ended.

Mrs Fisher said:

My daughter is a size five adult shoe so buying shoes for school isn’t cheap and especially when they grow out of them so I thought these would be alright.

I am most annoyed that she was put into isolation and I wasn’t even told. I was told by one of my daughter's friends.

Mrs Fisher was told suede shoes are not a type of leather and will not be allowed under the new school uniform regulations, when she picked her daughter up from the school gates.

The new Park Vale Academy has replaced Top Valley Drive after an £18 million revamp and a new state of the art building on the same site.

The school website states:

Shoes should be plain black, these should be of a leather-type material, plain black in colour with no logos or branding. Trainers, sandals, sling backs and boots are unacceptable.
