The RSPCA are investigating after four kittens were abandoned in a box at the side of the road in Stoke-on-Trent.

The week-old kittens were crying when they were found in a box at the side of a road in Settle Grove on Thursday 31 August. The member of the public who found them took the kittens back to their home and called the RSPCA.

Sadly. two of the kittens died. The surviving two, who have been named Doris and Norris are currently being hand-reared by an RSPCA foster carer and are doing well.

The cardboard box that they were abandoned in was absolutely wet through so we don’t know for sure exactly how long they had been there for. The poor kittens were crying as they were hungry. It is so sad as they are just too young to be away from their mum.

Someone clearly dumped them deliberately, which is very concerning. They are so young and defenceless that anything could have happened to them.

It is incredibly sad that two of the kittens died, but we are pleased that the surviving two are getting stronger every day.”
