Murder arrest after boy found dead at house

A seven-year-old boy has been found dead at a house in Shropshire.

A woman was also found at the house in Church Stretton with injuries to her neck and arm. The 44-year-old was taken to hospital, where she remains, and has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Officers were called to a house in Rushbury Road at 6.15pm on Thursday 21st September, and are expected to remain there for most of Friday too.

Superintendent Tom Harding said:

There has been significant police activity at the address this evening and we expect that this will continue through tomorrow as we try to establish what has taken place.

Our thoughts are with the family of the young child and we will continue to support them as our investigation progresses.

A spokesman for West Mercia police said officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said they had sent two ambulances and a paramedic to the scene, while the Midlands Air Ambulance was also dispatched.

Sadly, when ambulance staff arrived they found a boy who they were unable to revive and he was confirmed dead on scene.

A woman was also found with multiple serious injuries. The team worked to administer vital trauma care on scene before she was airlifted to hospital.
