A stray cat, who went missing from her home in Derbyshire, has been reunited with her owner after going missing for a year.
Cookie went missing from her new home near Alfreton after being brought over to the UK by Jessica Vestin, when she emigrated from Sweden in 2015.
Jessica spent the next six months desperately trying to find her cat but sadly no trace of her was ever found.
She had all but given up on finding her when Cookie was handed in to the RSPCA’s Chesterfield and North Derbyshire branch, on 18 September.
However, her microchip was Swedish and was not registered on the databases which staff could access.
So they decided to share a picture of her on social media and they even had an offer of help via Twitter from the Swedish embassy.
Jessica, who now lives in Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, said: “I was looking for Cookie for such a long a long time but we could not find her - I felt like giving up.
“I was so happy when I realised it was her. We are just so lucky that she was found.”
She is now safely back home with her owner and is getting used to life with their new cat Chilli.
