'Floozie in the Jacuzzi' statue given a makeover

One of Birmingham's famous statues has been given a makeover - in the form of a pink light-up bra.

The statue is officially called 'The River', but is popularly known as the 'Floozie in the Jacuzzi'.

It was installed in the city's Victoria Square in the 1990s.

The 1.75 tonne figure will be fitted with the bra throughout October to mark breast cancer awareness month.

The bra was designed by Zoe Beckett, who is studying fashion at Birmingham City University.

She wants to draw attention to the Birmingham-based charity ‘Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer’.

"I felt really proud to be able to represent the charity and my design being used in such a way to draw attention to the charity and its causes."
