Plans to install 5,000 rentable street bikes across the West Midlands could be given the go-ahead tomorrow at a meeting by the region's Combined Authority.

The scheme, which would be similar to the 'Boris bike' programme rolled out in London whilst Boris Johnson was Mayor, would see bikes available to hire from major rail stations and shopping areas across the region.

Some of the bikes could even be electric-powered.

Details of the scheme, officially titled West Midlands Bikeshare, are set to be approved by the mayor and council leaders at their board meeting on tomorrow (13 October).
