A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was stabbed at a property on Wright Road in the Washwood Heath area of Birmingham just before 4pm on Sunday afternoon (15 October).

Emergency services were called but sadly nothing could be done to save the 49-year-old and she died at the scene.

A cordon remains in place and forensic examinations are on-going.

West Midlands Police said they were treating it as a domestic incident and were not looking for anyone else in connection with the woman’s death.

One man who lives on Wright Road said:

The police have been here for a couple of hours now. There was an air ambulance and everything. I don't know what happened exactly - there's a lot of rumours flying around.
