Police hunt suspect whose car hit mother and newborn baby

Police investigating a hit-and-run involving a woman and her newborn baby have released a picture of a man they would like to speak to.

Andrew Rose, aged 32, is believed to have left the scene on foot leaving behind a blue Mazda MPS Aero Sports car that had hit the 28-year-old and her four-day-old old baby on the A34 Walsall Road, Great Barr at 6pm on the 23 September.

Both mother and baby were rushed to hospital but have since been discharged and are continuing to recover at home.

Police say Andrew is known to visit Aston and Walsall.

He is described as being around 6’8" inches, heavily built black man with brown eyes, a black beard and moustache.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from Collision Investigation Unit, said:

We urgently need to speak to this man and I would like to appeal to him directly to hand himself into police.

We have trawled CCTV in the area and visited a number of addresses known to Andrew in our search for him.

If anyone has any information about where Andrew may be, or saw what happened in the area at the time, please contact us as soon as possible.
