Search for driver after cyclist dies in hit-and-run

A cyclist has died after suffering a serious head injury in a suspected hit-and-run.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident in Midland Road, Darlaston, Walsall, at about 3.20am this morning (22 November).

The driver of the car involved in the collision left the scene, according to West Midlands Police.

A search is under way to trace the vehicle and the person at the wheel.

Ambulance crews arrived to find members of the public performing CPR on the victim, minutes after the crash.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said:

Sadly, despite all of their efforts, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.

Police were called by paramedics 'to a man who'd suffered a serious head injury after being knocked off his bike by a car'.

The driver of the car drove off and inquiries are under way to trace the offender and their vehicle.
