Norma Francis, from Gnosall, Staffordshire, was on holiday in Scotland with her husband when she became ill with norovirus in April last year.

Mr and Mrs Francis decided to cut short their hotel stay when Norma developed serious gastric illness symptoms.

After a taxi ride home to Gnosall, she fell unconscious and was taken by ambulance to Stafford A&E. She passed away despite paramedic efforts.

Her family say that they are hopeful of getting answers a year and a half after her death as a 2-day inquest has been set to begin today (23/11/2017).

“Around 18 months on from mum’s death we are all still attempting to come to terms with our loss. “It has been hard to move forward when we still have so many questions regarding her death, so we truly hope this inquest will be a step in the right direction and help us understand whether anything more could have been done to tackle the illness problems she endured and ultimately prevent her death.”
