Hit-and-run footage released in appeal

CCTV capturing the moment a driver mounted the pavement and hit a cyclist has been released.

The 20-year-old was left with multiple skull fractures and other serious injuries.

He had been cycling along the pavement, shortly before 11pm, with a friend on November 9 in Bilston.

CCTV has been released by detectives investigating the hit-and-run, in a bid to trace the driver.

West Midlands Police released the footage on its Facebook page.

It happened in St Chad’s Road on the Lunt estate in Bilston at around 10.50pm on 9 November.

A 20-year-old man was cycling along the footpath with a friend, when a dark coloured car mounted the pavement and knocked him from his bike.

The driver of the car then sped off, leaving the cyclist with multiple skull fractures and other serious injuries, from which he continues to recover.

The car may well have sustained front end damage, to the bumper and windscreen, which could have been repaired.
