Fencing tournament in memory of Alice Ruggles

A fencing tournament has taken place in memory of Alice Ruggles, as her family aim to raise awareness around the dangers of stalking.

Alice Ruggles from Leicester was stalked and killed by ex-boyfriend Lance Corporal Trimaan "Harry" Dhillon in October last year.

Alice broke up with Dhillon three months before he broke into her flat and killed her.

Clive and Sue Ruggles, Alice's parents, have since set up the Alice Ruggles Trust, which aims to raise awareness around the dangers of stalking.

Alice was a keen fencer and a fencing tournament took place at the University of Leicester, as the family urge MPs to back proposals for a new stalkers registers.

Clive spoke to ITV News Central:

We set up the Alice Ruggles Trust to try and raise awareness of just how serious and potentially dangerous it can be, in the hope that we can stop what happened to Alice, happening to others.
