A dad-of-six who was killed in a multi-car crash was on his last job of the night.

Imtiaz Mohammed had phoned his wife earlier to say he would be home after his last fare. He died in the six-car crash which killed six people.

It happened just after 1am on Sunday 17 December. One man is still in a critical condition.

Last night, Mr Mohammed's family described him as a "happy, loving and friendly" man. His daughter will celebrate her fourth birthday today.

It is not yet known what caused the crash, which killed five men and one woman.

Mr Mohammed died along with his two passengers, and his black cab was left on its side.

It was his last job of the night. That was the last time she [his wife Nargas Gul] spoke to him.

Superintendent Sean Phillips, from West Midlands Police, said yesterday:

It is way too early to speculate on the causes of the accident.

It will take some time to unpick the scene and just understand exactly what's happened. It would be unfair for me to speculate at this time.

The Ambulance Service, which sent five ambulances to the scene, said it was astonishing a man and woman in the first car were able to escape with minor injuries despite "extensive damage" to their vehicle.
