Detective Chief Inspector David Swift-Rollinson from East Midlands Special Operations Unit major crime team, said:

From enquiries we’ve conducted so far it’s believed there may have been an altercation between two groups of young men who were in separate vehicles travelling in the Fosse Road North or New Parks area.

The victim’s car came to rest in Dannett Street where he was found injured.

We are in the process of carrying out enquiries in the local area but would urge residents, businesses or anyone who may have been on their way home from the city between 3am and 3.42am today to contact us if they saw a silver vehicle and a small dark vehicle driving in the area.
