Garry Monk has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Birmingham City. He began his managerial career at Swansea in 2014 after a long playing career there. He then joined Leeds in 2016 and a year later took over newly relegated Middlesbrough.
Monk's assistant manager will be Pep Clotet, the first team coach will be James Beattie and goalkeeper coach will be Darryl Flahavan. They have all agreed contracts until the Summer of 2021.
Monk is the fifth Blues boss in fifteen months.He takes over from Steve Cotterill who was sacked after Birmingham were beaten 2-1 at Nottingham Forest yesterday. It was the Blues' fifth successive Championship defeat.
