Man charged over rape and attempted murder of woman in Ilkeston

A man has been charged after a woman was raped and left for dead in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

The woman was walking along Queen’s Avenue on 26 November, when she was grabbed, strangled and raped.

Detectives arrested 42-year-old Anthony Dealey on Tuesday 17 April.

He has been charged with attempted murder, rape, robbery and sexual assault. He remains in police custody.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said:

A man has today been charged with a number of alleged offences all linked to the attempted murder of a woman last year in Ilkeston.

Anthony Dealey (42) of Erewash Square, Ilkeston was arrested yesterday (Tuesday, April 17) and was charged today with attempted murder, rape, robbery and sexual assault.

The charges are all related to the incident that took place on Queens Avenue, Ilkeston, in the early hours of November 26, 2017 where a woman was strangled and raped.
