A woman has been taken to hospital after a house collapsed following a suspected explosion.

People living in the village of Peckleton, Leicestershire, say they heard 'an explosion' at around 6.30pm.

“A woman has been been injured and has been taken to hospital.

“No one else was in the property at the time and no one else has been injured.

“The road between Kirkby Mallory and Peckleton is closed to all traffic.

“Officers are assisting the fire service at the scene and the fire service will be investigating the cause of the collapse. That inquiry is in its early stages.”
