Royal Prince makes first appearance to the world in a Nottingham-made shawl

The new Royal Prince made his first appearance to the world in a shawl made by a Nottingham-based company.

The Prince - who was born yesterday at 11:01am - left the Lindo Wing in a white knitted shawl made by GH Hurt & Son Ltd.

The company made shawls for Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The Duke of Cambridge was also presented with one when he was born.

The baby weighed 8lb 7oz and is now fifth in line to the throne.

The Duke and Duchess thanked the hospital for their care and the public for their wishes. Kensington Palace said:

Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank all staff at the hospital for the care and treatment they have received.

They would also like to thank everyone for their warm wishes.
