A teenager has been charged with murder after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.

The 17-year-old from Lozells will appear before Birmingham’s magistrates court on Monday morning (21 May).

Ozell Pemberton was attacked on Lower Parade last Thursday (17 May). He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Our special boy Ozell, was one of a kind. A loving, respectful, funny, bubbly and courageous boy who always saw the bright side of life.

"He had a strong head on him and was wise beyond his years. He was independent and wanted to make his own way in life.

"Our family have suffered the most unimaginable pain and loss under the most tragic circumstances. We continue to stand together in unity and love, for Ozell was smothered with love.

"We would like to thank the emergency services and community for all their support.

"Justice for Ozell."
