Teenager in court over Sutton Coldfield stabbing

A teenager has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 16-year-old boy who was found stabbed in the street.

Ozell Pemberton was confirmed dead at the scene in Sutton Coldfield after the incident at about 3.30pm on Thursday.

A post-mortem examination said he died from a single stab wound to the chest.

On Monday (21 May), a 17-year-old youth, from Lozells, Birmingham, spoke only to confirm his address, date of birth and nationality during a four-minute hearing at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.

Ozell's parents said in a statement:

Our special boy, Ozell, was one of a kind. A loving, respectful, funny, bubbly and courageous boy who always saw the bright side of life.

On Saturday night, a 21-year-old from Erdington, Birmingham, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

A third man, a 17-year-old from Kingstanding, was arrested on Sunday.

Both remain in custody as the investigation continues.
