'Screaming child' alerts neighbours to fatal stabbing of 28-year-old man

A 28-year-old man has died and a 54-year old man has been seriously injured in a stabbing in Yardley Wood in the early hours of July 15.

Neighbours were woken by a child screaming at the property on Sandmere Road and police were called to the address at 1.40am.

According to local residents, the 54-year old injured in the incident is a father, with a number of children.

One, who said they were woken by a child screaming, added:

I feel sorry for the children. It’s heartbreaking.

The younger man hasn’t been living here long.

Last time I saw him he was out singing after England won last week.

Police have not released any details about the circumstances of the attack.

In a statement West Midlands Police have said both men were ‘known to each other’.

They are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.
