Two "drunk" men had to be rescued after they scaled Coventry Cathedral on a night out, according to police.

The men reached the top of the 90-metre (295ft) high Cathedral Tower, when West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service were all called out to the scene.

The men were safely brought down with the help of a hydraulic platform -normally used for fighting fires - and then handed straight to the police and arrested on suspicion of trespassing.

We were called by the police just before 11pm.

We sent one ambulance and one paramedic officer to the scene.

We assessed two men once they were back on the ground.

Neither wished to be taken to hospital so they were discharged.
