Two arrested in connection with a man being falsely imprisoned

Officers have arrested two men in connection with a man who was allegedly being falsely imprisoned in Stoke.

Firearms officers arrived at Church Street in Stoke-on-Trent at around 8:20am this morning (Saturday 1 September) following a report of one man with a firearm and another with a knife.

Officers peacefully negotiated their way into the property and established that there was no immediate threat to the public.

Following further investigation into the incident, two men have been arrested. A 40-year-old man from Yarnfield was arrested for threats to kill, false imprisonment and human trafficking for the purpose of exploitation. A 36-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested for assisting an offender.

Both men remain in custody and a cordon remains in place on Church Street.
