Fraudster jailed after pocketing charity cash for Lee Rigby's son

A fraudster who pocked money collected for the son of a murdered solider has been jailed.

Gary Gardner was sentenced to two and a half years at Leicester Crown Court today (Fri) after he was convicted of two counts of fraud yesterday.

Gardner, a 56-year-old from Leicestershire, organised a series of fundraising events for Lee Rigby's son.

The lorry driver spent up to £5,000 donated by the public for Jack Rigby on producing a charity music single which only raised £200.

He was cleared of one count of fraud which alleged he failed to keep a record of the amounts raised from fundraisers.
