A pro-Brexit MP has ended up looking like a bit of a lemon after a tweet slating EU tariffs.
Daniel Kawczynski, the MP for Shrewsbury, tweeted a picture of himself in his local Tesco holding lemons.
In the tweet, he said: "Now at Tescos in Shrewsbury. Please remember EU protectionist racket means inefficient EU growers preferred to other non EU Mediterranean growers, due to massive tariffs imposed by EU.
"This leads to you paying more for your products! No more after March 2019!"
But it didn't take long for people to point out that at this time of year, many supermarkets sell a lot of non-EU fruit which are not subject to tariffs.
Kawczynski's tweet has had more than 1,300 replies.
