Nottingham City Council has welcomed the announcement of Nottingham Forest's new owners. Leader Councillor Jon Collins says he is looking forward to meeting the Kuwaiti-based Al-Hasawi family, who will take control after reaching terms to buy the late Nigel Doughty's controlling stake.

"It's been a really difficult time over the past few months for the Club and its supporters since the tragic death of Nigel Doughty. With this news it looks like the wait is over and the Club can now start to move forward again.

We want Forest to be successful and to be part of our proud sporting heritage here in Nottingham. I'm looking forward to meeting the new owners and hearing about their plans for what we all want to see which is a bright and sustainable future for the Club and its supporters".
