Students in the Midlands are among some of the top in the country
Students in the West Midlands achieved 9% of the A*'s given in this year's GCSE results whilst those in the East Midlands achieved 7%.
There were declines in the proportion of students getting A and A* grades across all regions.

3600 students receive more than 50% pass rate at Europe's largest school
Nottingham Academy, the largest Academy in Europe, has 3600 students. 51% of pupils at the school have gained five or more GCSE passes A* - C grade.
54% of pupils at the Nottingham Girls’ Academy also received the same grades.
International school receives 100% A-C grades
Concord College, Shropshire's International school, has received a pass rate of 100%.
Students achieved five or more A* to C passes including English and maths.235 A*s were awarded overall.
79% of all grades awarded were A/A and 95% of all grades awarded were A/A/B which equals last year’s record.
Record breaking GCSE results for new Academy
Students at The Marches School in Oswestry are the first year of GCSE students to receive their results since the school became an Academy last August.
Students and staff were celebrating this morning as a record 92% of students achieved 5 or more GCSE’s A* - C.
It's a 4% improvement on the 2011 results.
