A couple from the Midlands who have spent six years hiding in Cyprus are coming back to the UK to face justice.
Fugitive couple due in court today
A fugitive couple from the Midlands who spent six years hiding in Cyprus, have been brought back to the UK and will appear at Birmingham Crown Court later.
Wayne Smith, 38, jumped bail after admitting causing death by dangerous driving of a man he hit during a car race with a friend.
Mohammed Idrees, 22, died from injuries after the incident, which happened in the Alum Rock area of Birmingham in 2005.
Mr Smith's partner Julie Anne Skelding fled the country to join him having been found guilty of giving him a false alibi.
West Midlands Police en route to Cyprus
West Midlands Police say officers are heading to the Mediterranean island of Cyprus after Wayne Smith and his partner, Julie Anne Skelding, were detained by police last week in connection with offences committed in 2005.
