The body of 12-year-old Pierre Barnes from Grantham in Lincolnshire was found, days after he went missing after going on a bike ride in a storm while on holiday in France. A memorial is taking place today in memory of Pierre.

Pierre, aged 12, went missing during a severe storm whilst on holiday on an island off the South of France.

Pierre Barnes, who's 12 and from Grantham, vanished on Saturday when he went for a bike ride of the island of Porquerolles in the Mediterranean.

A schoolboy has gone missing on a holiday island off the south of France during a severe storm. Pierre Barnes from Grantham in Lincolnshire vanished after going for a bike ride near Toulon on the Mediterranean coast.
Rescuers found one of his shoes on a coastal path alongside his bike with its chain off. More than 150 local volunteers have been helping to search for him.

Search teams say they have found a shoe they suspect belongs to the missing for 12-year-old Pierre Barnes who went missing while on holiday near Toulon in France.
Rescue workers say the shoe was found by a woman in a bush this morning.
Hours after arriving on the island of Porquerolles in the Mediterranean, Pierre from Lincolnshire went for a bike ride in stormy weather, but never returned.
Rescue workers were searching until 4.00am then returned to search from 7.00am.
Search efforts have extended along a cliff side after fears he may have fallen into the water.

Foreign Office statement on missing Grantham boy
The Foreign Office have confirmed they are working with teams in France in the search for Pierre Barnes who went missing on a Mediterranean islands over the weekend.
A spokeswoman said:
"We can confirm that a British national has been reported missing in France.
"We are in touch with the French authorities and we are providing consular assistance."

Boy went missing just hours after arriving on French island
Pierre Barnes, who's 12, has been missing on the French island of Porquerolles, near Toulon since Saturday.
He'd arrived just hours earlier with his family from Grantham in Lincolnshire for a half term break.
Father speaks about searching for son in French storm
The father of the boy who went missing on a bike ride in stormy weather in France, is hoping his son found somewhere safe to shelter from the bad weather. Speaking to French Television, 57-year-old Stephen Barnes said:
– Stephen Barnes, Pierre Barnes' father"I am certain he went off on an adventure on his bicycle but in the forest all the little tracks look the same."
"He is lost but he is a strong boy and I hope he found a place to sleep where there was not too much wind. It's difficult to say what you can do when you are cold and frightened."
Pierre Barnes, who's 12, went missing just hours after his family arrived on the island of Porquerolles, near Toulon, for a half term holiday.
