Police have launched a murder inquiry after a man was found with gunshot wounds on a street in Bilborough, Nottingham.

Police believe a man murdered in Nottingham on Saturday may have been attacked 15 minutes before he was shot.

Detectives have today released photographs of the victim and his car in the hope that witnesses of the shooting in Bilborough will come forward.

Germaine Edwards was found in Fairnley Road just after 5.00 pm with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.He was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, but later died.

Witnesses have said they saw a silver Ford Fiesta drive into the street and heard a loud bang before the 28-year-old was pushed out of the rear of the vehicle.

A post-mortem examination revealed Germaine Edwards died of a gunshot wound.

A 32-year-old, who has been arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Heydon, who is leading the investigation, said:

“Despite making an arrest I am still appealing for information.

“In the ten or fifteen minutes before he was found, we believe Germaine, who was travelling in his Fiesta with a friend, was stopped in the Wollaton Vale area.

“He was then forced into the back of the vehicle by at least one man, who is described as black and wearing a cream-coloured jacket."

A man who died after being shot in Nottingham on Saturday has been formally identified as Germaine Edwards.

The 28-year-old was found collapsed in his hometown of Bilborough on Fairnley Road just after 5 pm. He was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, but later died.

A post-mortem examination revealed Germaine Edwards died of a gunshot wound.

A 32-year-old, who has been arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody.

Police appeal for witnesses after fatal Nottingham shooting

Police say a silver Ford Fiesta could be linked to a shooting in Nottingham in which a man died.

The victim was discovered collapsed in Bilborough shortly after 5 o'clock last night.

Police later found a burnt out car matching the description of the vehicle they think was involved in the incident.

Supt Brian Beasley, of the City Division, said:**

“We need to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything around 5pm last night in the Bilborough area. Did you hear the sound of a firearm being discharged?**

“We believe a silver Ford Fiesta carrying two or three men, is linked to this murder. Did you see it driving at speed or erratically through Bilborough, Wollaton, or Trowell.**

“A vehicle matching the description was discovered burnt out in the Cossall area and we need to find out how it got there.

“If you know anything about this, I would urge you to contact us.”**
