A 71-year-old man has appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court charged with the murder of his wife.
Peter Thurgarland, from Maplebeck, near Southwell, is accused of strangling 70-year-old Julia Thurgarland at their home last Friday. A date has yet to be set for a Crown Court hearing.
