Aston Martin has been celebrating its 100th birthday. It was on this day a century ago, that two engineers set up a company which would go on to become one of the world's most iconic motoring brands.
These days the firm is based here in the Midlands, but it all began in quiet London street, as John Willats now reports
Aston Martin is celebrating its 100 year anniversary.
Workers at their plant in Gaydon, Warwickshire, where the cars are made, are enjoying the atmosphere there today.
Workers at Aston Martin's headquarters in Warwickshire have spoken of their pride as the company celebrates its centenary. A plaque is being unveiled in London this afternoon to mark where the firm started out.
It is at Gaydon where the firm has settled for the last ten years, and where its cars are made.
Bal Choda, who is a Project Engineer at Gaydon said:
"It is a wonderful day for the company. There is a lot of excitement among employees as a hundred years obviously doesn't come very often. It's fantastic to be part of the business at this exciting time."
Alan Vincent who works in the plant's paint shop said: "Everyone is buzzing. What a landmark."
Luxury car-makers Aston Martin are celebrating their 100th anniversary today.
The Warwickshire-based Aston Martin car is an iconic part of British culture, and has long been the car of choice for James Bond.
