NUJ: BBC Nottingham journalists to strike next Monday

The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) has said journalists at the BBC in Nottingham are to go on strike next Monday in a dispute over compulsory redundancies.

Members of the NUJ will walk out for 24 hours to support colleagues elsewhere in the country whose jobs are under threat.

Despite swathes of cuts throughout the BBC, the Union has negotiated many successful settlements for our members to avoid being made forcefully redundant. Unfortunately the BBC management has, in some cases, failed to follow agreed policies for redeployment – advertising jobs externally when there are people inside the Corporation who could do the work.
