Two men have been seriously injured after they were stabbed in Hereford on Tuesday. West Mercia Police say five people have been arrested and remain in custody.

Man charged in connection with Hereford stabbings

Police in Hereford have today (April 5) charged a man in connection with two stabbings, which took place earlier this week.

The 47-year-old from Peterborough is due before Hereford Magistrates Court this afternoon charged with encouraging or assisting in the commission of indictable offences.

The charge is in relation to attacks on two men, which happened on Westfaling Street and on a footpath between Golden Post and the Belmont estate on Tuesday afternoon (April 2).

A woman in her 30s, who was also arrested in connection with the stabbings, was detained yesterday (April 4) under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act and taken to a secure unit outside of Herefordshire where she is being assessed.

A woman who was arrested in connection with two stabbings that happened in Hereford on Tuesday has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

The woman, who is in her 30s, has been taken to a secure unit outside of Herefordshire where she will be continually assessed.

Four men, all in their 40s, who were also arrested in connection with the attacks remain in police custody. An extension for their detention was granted at Hereford Magistrates Court earlier today.

The two victims remain in hospital.

Four men and a woman have been arrested after two random stabbings in Hereford left two men seriously injured.

Police say they can find no motive for the attacks and have described them as vicious.

They believe the stabbings could be linked with a murder 140 miles away.

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were hospitalised with stab wounds yesterday afternoon.

Police think the incidents are linked. One took happened at Westfaling Street near to the junction to Holmer Street and the second on a public footpath between Golden Post and the Belmont Estate.

Officers want to hear from anyone who was in those areas between 3:30pm and 4pm yesterday (Tuesday 2nd April).

Five people have been arrested, four men and a woman.

One man remains in a critical condition in the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham, while the other is described as having serious injuries.

The stabbings happened in two separate locations in the city this afternoon.

One man is in a critical condition at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, the other is described as having serious injuries.
