Police update on Hereford Fire

Firefighters continue to tackle a blaze at a carpet factory in Hereford. Fire crews were called to the scene at Rotherwas Industrial Estate just before 8am.

“An 800m cordon has been put in place around the factory and only residential properties within that cordon have been evacuated.

“People living there have been taken to the leisure centre on Holmer Road.

Homes and businesses outside of the 800m cordon, but downwind of the smoke coming from the factory, which is heading in a northerly direction across the river, are being asked to stay indoors and keep their windows shut.”
