A paraplegic woman from Leicestershire who last year completed the London Marathon in a robotic suit has almost finished her 400 mile bike ride from Nottingham to London using a hand-cycle.

You would think that after spending two weeks walking the London marathon in a robotic suit Claire Lomas would have taken a break, but you would be wrong.

Claire who is paralysed from the chest down has just finished a 400 mile charity bike ride from Nottingham to London.

Along the way she has raised tens of thousands of pounds for spinal research. Phil Brewster was there to see her cross the finishing line.

Claire Lomas says challenge was 'tough' but worth it

A woman paralysed from the chest down after a horse riding accident seven years ago has finished a 400 mile charity bike ride from Nottingham to London.

Claire Lomas from Leicestershire, used a special handbike to complete her challenge. A short while ago she arrived at the London Eye to cheers from friends and supporters.

So far Claire's raised almost £80,000 for spinal research. Along the way she also visited schools and colleges to talk about her experiences.

The 33-year-old from Eye Kettleby in Leicestershire, used a special hand-bike to complete her challenge, which is the equivalent of tackling a marathon every day.

Claire suffered spinal injuries following a horse riding accident six years ago.

In 2012 she raised almost £250,000 for spinal research after walking the London Marathon in a robotic suit.

A woman paralysed from the chest down is due to finish a 400 mile charity bike ride from Nottingham to London today.

Claire Lomas to finish challenge at the London eye

Claire Lomas is hoping to complete her charity bike ride today, by finishing the last leg of her journey at the London Eye.

She has cycled over 400 miles from Nottingham to the capital.
