A teenager's due in court on suspicion of murdering a man in Oswestry. Danny Jones, who was 21 and from Chirk, died on Wednesday from a single stab wound to the stomach. An 18-year-old man is expected to appear before magistrates this morning.

Police have released the name of a 21-year-old man who died after being attacked in Oswestry in Shropshire.

Although formal identification is still to take place, police believe the victim is Danny Jones from Chirk.

He died from a single stab wound to the abdomen on Wednesday 24 April.

Detectives are continuing to question an 18-year-old man, who is being held on suspicion of murder.

Murder inquiry launched in Oswestry

An 18-year-old has been arrested and a police inquiry has been launched following the death of a man from Chirk.

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of murder at 3am this morning after a man in his 20s died from a reported puncture wound to the stomach in Oswestry at around 8:20pm last night.

Officers and paramedics attended the car park at Lord Street, Oswestry, and the victim was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but pronounced dead a short time later.

Several witnesses have already come forward to speak to police and I urge anybody else who might have seen what happened or the events leading up to it to get in touch.

The man who died has not yet been formally identified but his family has been informed.
