Murder investigation launched after fatal assault

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was assaulted and died in Birmingham today.

The attack happened in Gillott Road in the Edgbaston area of the city. Police believe the 41-year-old man knew his attacker. A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the man's death.

A cordon is currently in place and the victim is yet to be formally identified.

Police say there are no known links between the man's death and the murder of 75-year-old Mohammed Saleem in Small Heath earlier this week.
