West Midlands Police have confirmed that a fire at a store in Harborne was arson. Police were alerted to the fire at Stead & Simpson Shoe store on the High Street just after 6am.
The High Street was closed in both directions between Lordswood Road and Metchley Lane whilst emergency services tackled the blaze.
They were later reopened just before 3pm. Early indications suggest that the store was broken into and stock was stolen before the fire was started.
Detectives are now appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious between 4am and 6am this morning to contact Harborne CID on 101.
