Today is World Asthma Day. It is an annual event organised by the Global Initiative for Asthma with a goal to improve asthma awareness and care around the world.

Kim Douglas from Great Barr says her British Empire medal for her services to people with Asthma is for everyone who has helped in her fight against the illness.

Ms Douglas' son George died in his sleep from the condition when he was three years old.

She founded the George Coller Memorial Fund in his memory.
