A man's been charged with murdering a mother and her baby son in Billesley in Birmingham. Wesley Williams will appear in court later accused of killling Yvonne Walsh and seven-month-old Harrison whose bodies were found at their home earlier this month.
Family, friends and neighbours have expressed shock after a mother and her nine month old baby were found dead at their Birmingham home in a quiet cul de sac. Tonight police say a man arrested on suspicion of murder has been deemed unfit to be interviewed.
A 28-year-old man arrested in the Sandwell area on suspicion of both murders is currently in a secure facility following an assessment by mental health professionals. West Midlands Police say he is currently deemed unfit to be interviewed by officers at this stage. This is being constantly reviewed.
Forensic examinations of the house in Chells Grove are continuing this morning and investigations are ongoing. Local officers are providing reassurance patrols in the area.
A serious case review and a domestic homicide review are expected to take place.
West Midlands Police has informed the Independent Police Complaints Commission because it has had previous contact with the man in custody.Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area late Saturday night or early Sunday morning to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
