Thousands line streets for troops homecoming

Thousands of people lined the streets of Nottingham today to welcome home troops from the Queen's Royal Lancers. The regiment recently returned from Afghanistan where they spent six months conducting reconnaisance missions and training the Afghan army and police.

There were cheers as around two hundred soldiers marched through the city. However the impact of the recent killing of Lee Rigby, which shocked the nation, was also evident. Phil Brewster reports.

The Queen's Royal Lancers, are marching through Nottingham to celebrate the Freedom of the City and mark their return from Afghanistan.

The band of the Coldstream will be accompanying The Queen's Royal Lancers

Around 200 soldiers will be in the march through the city streets accompanied by the band of the Coldstream.
