West Midlands Police: Arrest figure revised

West Midlands Police said the number of people arrested now sits at four. They are being questioned about public order offences.

The earlier figure included arrests after a member of the public reported two groups breaching the peace.

On arrival by police the groups were detained. Following investigation of the circumstances, a breach of the peace was not established and the groups were de-arrested.

Broad Street closed in both directions because of demo

The A456 Broad Street is closed in both directions due to the demonstration between Sheepcote Street and A38 Paradise Circus Queensway.

Protesters in Birmingham city centre are now gathered on Centenary Square, which has resulted in Broad Street being closed.

The road was already restricted due to the tunnel closures. All buses and taxis are now diverting away from the protest.

All buses are now diverting via Sheepcote Street, Vincent Street, Summer Hill and Sandpits.
