Birmingham councillor on HS2 Growth Taskforce

The leader of Birmingham City Council is one of 12 senior figures that have joined the HS2 Growth Taskforce.

Sir Albert Bore is in the group that is in place to maximise the economic boost provided by the HS2 project.

Other members include business leaders, academics and local government figures from across the country, and chaired by former Olympic organiser boss, Lord Deighton.

An independent analysis has predicted that the development is capable of generating up to 22,000 jobs in the next five years. And that could rise to 50,000 by the late 2020s.
